JENNIFER CARVALHO

WORKS
CV

Jennifer Carvalho’s paintings trace the history of past empires and the slow meandering movement of time during which ideas and information are either lost or passed on, and the ways in which this contingency shapes contemporary ideologies and contexts. Emphasizing a withdrawal rather than an occupation in the face of looming environmental catastrophe, her paintings consider the ruin as a site of productive potential from which something new might emerge.
