Information
Franz Kaka is a contemporary art gallery in Toronto, founded in 2016 by Aryen Hoekstra.
The gallery grew out of the city’s artist-run and DIY histories, and works with artists whose practices are materially ambitious, formally rigorous, and resistant to easy resolution. Across painting, sculpture, photography, video, and installation, the programme privileges experimentation, sustained attention, and work that shifts through repeated encounter.
Franz Kaka maintains long-term relationships with artists, supporting new exhibitions, publications, acquisitions, and institutional projects in Canada and abroad. The gallery’s artists have been included in major biennials and exhibitions at leading institutions, and their work is held in significant public and private collections.
Alongside its year-round programme in Toronto, Franz Kaka participates in international art fairs including Art Basel, Frieze London, and Art Basel Miami Beach.
Franz Kaka is a member of the International Galleries Alliance (IGA), the New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA), and AGAC.
